ODE to Baby Mamas and their Drama (that makes you want to holler)

No doubt people are tripping these days. I had to sit back and contemplate how ruthless and cunning, we are. Morale is at an all time low, and guess what? No one gives a what...

Its sad, but I can't help but notice this one disheartening trend is the lack of compassion and accountablity people are taking when it comes to kids.

Yo, let's talk about BABY MAMMAS! They are some otherness these days, and the stories are relentless. I mean their are a lot of triflin women out there (tho a lot men seemed to like that anyway) but the antics and games these women are playing are straight ridiculous, NOW, disclaimer: by no means am I sticking up for the fellas, because they have yet to redeem themselves in my book, tho lately I have met some charming ones, but due to recent bull shit and garbage that has come my way, I've been just indulging in other pleasures (like my new bike :)! ) To erase the stupidity from my sector.anyway I'm just apalled at the behavior of these, excuse my french ghetto a** baby mothers acting beyond foolish. I really sit and wonder, as a guy you had have been exposed to this crap before she got knocked up, didn't you think you deserved better? (Unless u have serious esteem issues, I guess not)
These are signs that you have a trifling baby mother, and if you do... Well my prayers are with you and your paycheck stub... Cause your going to need it!

Reasons why she doesn't need to be the MAMA of your BABY!

1. She still goes to the club and the kid isn't even a year old yet. Maybe you shouldn't be re-living your childhood, when you had a kid in childhood.

2. When you let your cousins claim your kids on their taxes... Um weren't you the one who got knocked up?

3. This isn't tit for tat, this new trend of dumping the kids on the man and disappearing and not paying childsupport. It isn't good when men do it, so why are you trying to be like mike?

4. Your kids aren't bank of america, you have seeeerious ethical issues when you use your kids to get child support money.

5. Please stop teaching your kids all the songs on the radio and latest dance trends... They could be doing a lot more with their time instead of saying"soulja boy tell em" in a cute baby voice... Uh not cute

6. I still don't get why yoy would smoke a blunt with a four year old.

7. Um, every guy you date shouldn't be the kids new uncle of the week! Your family isn't that big!

8. Getting pregnant by a rapper, nfl player, nba player isn't security, if you were really smart you would be hitting up the ER for DR's and wall street for stock brokers... Now that's a sugar daddy!

9. If this women let her stomach hang out and all her baby stretch marks and baby flab is still there... *laughs* not much can be said here...

10. When talking on the phone, despite elevated blood pressure and voice tone, these words should not be apart of the convo: "motha fu£$er is your turn to get him, who is dat in the background, you aint s*#t! Oh so you hiding the money from me!, I need more child support!,you aint s*#t!

If you suffer from any of the following symptoms... Well its official, you have baby mama drama.

Next time you will wear a condom! LOL

STYLE PROFILE: MICHAEL JACKSON... ALWAYS A SMOOTH CRIMINAL!

In this time alot of people will feel the shock, disbelief, and hurt of loosing Michael Jackson... the grace, the ambition, the icon. I really am not one for really famous people, and althought I never knew Michael Personally, this man was very much apart of my life. MJ's music was my whole childhood, he was my older siblings childhood, and parents young adulthood... this man made music his whole life; and his contribution to the music industry is undeniable! of course with all things, you will have a lot of naysayers, and people referring to his molestation case, and what not, but the truth is those people will never know what it was like to be MJ...

there's something about people flocking to mystery, the magic, the wonder of the story... people are intriguied with what they cant touch or see, and often times they use that as a catalyst to ridicule and insult. NO ONE CAN EVER say, they know for one day in their lives what it was like to be MJ, no one else in the world was a diamond platinum artist, sold out concerts all over the world, or lived a life of infinite void... no one will know what it was like to be the "lonely man in the spotlight."

I always loved MJ, and i remember watching the jackson 5 movie thousands of times, from start to finish everytime... and theres always apart of me that wonders what it would be like to everyday wake up and be drilled to perform, dont eat, dont sleep, just get it right... its such a catch 22, its almost if mj didnt suffer the abuse and ridicule from his father, would he have been the icon he was today? at the same time, his life was literally a sacrifice... which makes his death so heartbreaking. A person who (at least died peacefully) never got to catch a break, who was always in the limelight, who never had true friends, and the world loved and hated in the same breath.... imagine being Prom King 100x over?

Im not here to talk about MJ's death, Im here to celebrate his life, his craft, his passion. This man gave it his ALL in everything he did, he defied music barriers, and accomplished more than anyone in the industry (not even the beetles were MJ level)He can finally get his peace, his alone time, his diginity...

i hope that his life inpires us to push for our dreams, and be great at what we are meant to do, and always stay humble and greatful... dont treat people bad for your own personal gain... when we loose them, we loose them forever.

Rest in PARADISE MJ!

love

Style Breakdown: IN THE CLOSET

This is a classic scenario, we have all done it, stood infront of our closet saying to ourselves "man, I don't have anything to wear..." Most of usually pine in two ways: 1.decide not to go where we planned on going for the night...
2. Go to the nearest store and buy an outfit.
Usually if your broke you do the prior, but today kiddies, Miss Jenius is going to school you how to turn your favorite outfit into many looks. Everyone has their own style from urban to chic, and you can push the envelope yet still maintain being conservative.I will give you some sample for men and women!

Ladies: oh mÝ lovely lady lumps, so let's use our famous little black dress. Let's say you have a favorite black dress like so...
1.Little Black Dress:
Photobucket
This is our black cocktail dress, we will use this little number usually to go out to a club or even a cocktail party. With the rouched sides and thin straps, you can wear this simple, long drape earrings, and stilettos. Not too much needs to be added here, because of the already configured detail, it can stay just as it is! We will use this dress as a catalyst for our outfits.
2.Daybreak
Photobucket
Now using the same dress we can tone it down with more relaxed pieces in our closet. The great part you can give a subtle sex appeal with out being too provacative, yet chill and comfortable. Here I took the same dress, added a short sleeved cropped mini jacket, with a urban buckle belt and black chain necklace. You can wear tights or not, flat shoes, or kitten heels. This is your "fit" for shopping, lunch with your boyfriend, or sociology 211.
3.Working Woman:
Photobucket
I love this look, because it shows a high fashion appeal with a buisness casual chic. I'm a firm believer in expressing yourself even in the most controlled enviroments. I believe in this ensemble using power colors such as blacks and blues, adding gold for acessories to add a touch of regal flare. I simply added a tapered blaZer and waist belt with gold accent.
4.Evening Vixen:
Photobucket
Their will come a time when your boyfriends job will have there annual dinner, and this will be the moment he gets to show you off to his friends. The last thing you want to do is appear frumpy, boring, and typical! You want to be remembered as the hot vogue girlfriend lol, anyway adding a satin blouse on top of your dress, with a broche will create this look. Tip: to make the dress look like a skirt, tie your blouse to the side, or add a belt ( depending on the blouse) or fold your blouses edge inside the shirt, or pin it to fit and add a belt over the fold.

These are just some ideas to make 4 outfits w/o having to buy clothes!
I will be back with my MALE Installment, dont worry fellas, I got ya too!!!

The ensemble:
Black Rouched Cocktail Dress Charolette Russe
Gold Braid Accent Belt (NAVY) Value Village thrift store
Black Army Belt Express
"Berlin Fashion Week" Crop Sweat Jacket Nonno Tokyo Boutique
Navy Tapered Blazer Yves Saint Laurent
Gold Bloussant Blouse Miu Miu

A Jenius Story: the little you, Represents the REAL you...

Imagination was never an ideal too hard for me to fathom... I was the kid who was wrapped up in RL STINE Goosebumps novels, jump it, ez bake oven, crayola map pencils (or rose art if you lived in the hood),treasure trolls, and etch a sketch. I was infatuated with styrofoam packaging and new shoe boxes, cause I knew after every pair of new shoes, my barbies would be getting renovations and a new room added to my handmade barbie doll house. I would run through the aisles at the fabric store letting my hands glide past each material waiting for my mother to get new lace for her african garb. I made my first magazine in seventh grade with xerox copies of seventeen magazine, my first fragrance ad of my moms avon perfume splashed on paper with my kiddish scrabbled drawing of a couture dress by "karyn j". I rigged everything, if I could make it, I never had to buy it. I was a big dreamer, an artist and stylish! Ill never forget my pink chucks that were my favorite shoe in 4th grade, or the warm feeling I felt with my new pair of mudd jeans... My child me was the catalyst of my jenius me. I mean everyone doesn't come from a peachy keen background, but at least when your kid, your world is so full of ideas, your more forgiving, your more imaginitive, geuine and pure.I wish ppl would look back at how they were as a kid and realize the same dream implanted in you at seven, is your lifes purpose at 29.nothing we do is by mistake, I always dressed more freely than everyone else, always drawing fashion figures since middle school, and always coming out resilient in every trial. If we could all go back to our little you... Which represents the real you!

Love

Style Profile: A Visionary always leaves their MARC.

I love white men... somethings they do annoy me... but this caucasion persuaion can elude me anytime! The fashion industry, surprisinly is a male dominated field, where most of the big whigs are men, and its easy to think that liberation for the creative would be on a tight rope. Most people think that fashionist are "stuck up", "socialites", materialistic", and "arrogant"... which like any group of people claim their sterotypes... I myself have been to New York several times, and have been admist the elite of the fashion world, and i have to admit they are the most genuine, hardworking, and pleasent people you will ever meet. Im not saying that there are no bourgouis... but what i am saying is that no one gets love when your all talk, and no walk... anyway back to my love for my cream colored fellas...

i adore any person who is avid about pursuing their purpose, and i equally adore a person who apperciates true beauty in it's rarest form. I will never forget when Rafeal, the head make up artist of NARS, told me "girl your so arabasque and exqusite, i love your lips!" i think i blushed all the way home! I think of how many artistic people take something from nothing and turn it into amazing... so to elude to my purpose of the blog, i think of Marc Jacobs, one of the industries prominent and shining designers. he's edgy, he's raw, he's real! most importantly he treats you with respect! and nothing is more valiant than a man who keeps and respects a woman.
I wish regular people could just take notes, not from a fashion perspective, but from a life perspective... understanding that to get ahead in life it is about building relationships, giving respect even if that person doesnt deserve it, working hard but playing nice, not manipulating or using... i have yet to see a selfish person maintain success!

I have learned alot from mr. jacobs, especially when dealing with difficult and pretentious people... i have learned to be upfront from the begining, and true to myself at all times. i love every piece of marc jacob product that i own and the fact of his candor and demeanor, makes me happy to own it even more... i know it will only be a matter of time before i make my mark in the industry but im slowing attaining that goal... a visionary is like a cup of columbian brewed coffee "Good to the last drop!"

I love marc jacobs because he reminds me of your baby blanket that you have had all your life (and still have), sweet asian pears, wood musk, see's candies, caramel machiattos, italian leather, Ralph Lauren in his 20's, New york Night life, and a stroll down the Champs-Elysess in Paris in torn denim and black baret!

we love you MJ!

Begin Again...

No doubt, the world is foul, many people roam the streets following their usual, being victim to the machine... Were so programmed to be so out of touch and not tunned to reality.

I have run across so many rotten souls, you know people who have become so absorbed with self that they trample others for their own demented victory! Can you imagine that world has become so warped that if your good, people will actually push a way your goodness, because their own lack of self worth tells them they are not worth the goodness presented before them...(which this is something that western society drills in the minds of people)
Sheesh, what a world.
But, that's life. If people could stop trying to chase after an illusion and seek reality (whatever ur reality is) we would probably have less people admitting themselves to the psych ward! Here's a philosphy for even when you have exhausted all your goodness, and your efforts seem unapperciated... Begin again.

Philosphy:
You took the right road, and ended up in the wrong place
begin again...
You reached the top of a mountain, only to find yourself at the bottom of a new one, Begin Again
You dotted every "i" and crossed every "t",
Begin Again...
You loved with all your heart and it gotten broken anyway,
Begin Again...
You won the race, but they gave first place to someone else
Begin Again...
You followed the north star, and ended up in south pole,
Begin Again...
You achieved a big dream...
DREAM AGAIN!

Love,
K

Style Profile: HARRIET WINSLOW...an oldie but goodie...

A tribute to a fashionista that always had style... i always loved Harriet Winslow's (jo Marie Payton)sassy, chic, and embellesihed style... I go into thrift shops looking for some of the pieces she wore on the show. She was a sassy yet savvy kind of sista, and you could tell she was up on her VOGUE in the early nineties (which by the way does anyone still do the urkel dance? i would like to see some one bring that back in the club...haha)

i love harriet winslow, because she soooo reminds me of lepoard print, coco mango incense, Gucci Rush, Gold bangles, SKOR choclate Bars, Prince's Little Red Corvette (baby your much too fast)... Harriet Winslow... your such an oldie but goodie!!!

STYLE PROFILE: GONZO...THE KRYLON KUTIE

If Lord of the Rings were a subculture of international graffiti artist, we would refer to them as Aerosol Warfare… Band of Graffiti connoisseurs led by the princes of krylon (and biz partners) Christian and Gonzo… Collectively combining their sprayed on visual canvases on the streets and ‘hoods’ of Houston, Texas (as well as other places in the world, too many to name though.) We remember them when they sprayed little messages barley seen by the roving eye on city streets that entailed a picture of a razor blade with the slogan “give up”, to now evolved boom boxes, mural houses, and car hoods….

I caught up with Mr. Gonzo and his funky fresh to def style at the Aerosol Warfare exhibit showing their latest collection of urban art. Besides the ambiance being on point reminding me of a hidden back alley gallery party in Downtown L.A., His garb was just as eccentric as his pieces. We love Gonzo of Aerosol Warfare, because anyone who can rock a necklace intricately pieced by spray can tops, (which by the way I want one!) and graffiti infused chuck tailors, should be hailed as this seasons new little black dress!
Gonzo reminds us of old Run DMC tapes blaring out of a silver double deck boom box, pumpkin empanadas, Voss water (in the glass bottle), those intricately placed paint spots on the garage floor, a pair of Cheap Monday jeans, and 1967 Chevy camaro with 22’s. Yeah something like that…

You can Check Aerosol Warfare and their new exhibit of Collective Artist at their Gallery Boutique

STYLE PROFILE: Gabriel Prusmack...PUTTING THE SMACK DOWN!

So upon walking into this room, splashed with electric teal, magenta, and objects, I feel at home… the same fuzzy feeling I felt in Philadelphia when walking down a row graffiti infused street murals. It was as if the street lifted itself and walked into place being captured in this four-walled room; stilled, plastered, and regurgitated from its original stance. I immediately tape in to photography mode and snap away, not wanting to loose sight of the moment… I probably passed the golden curled pony tailed debonair about three or four times that night, not even realizing he was yours truly Gabriel Prusmack.

He catches us eyeing some little art men, and begins politely talking to the crew about the three dimensional characters, and of course I go into fashion stylist mode, wondering who is this artsy looking guy just randomly talking to us… he introduces, I start scoping… So you’re the creative Jenius behind my new “Fallen in Love Room…”I love it!

We love Gabe, because his style reminds us of a Café au Lait laced with Jamaican rum, basquait paintings on a bathroom stall, random pen ink stains on a white suit, the late Heath Ledger, and Dsquared Wood Cologne. Yeah something like that.

Gabe  Prusmack is also an artist with Aerosol Warfare… you can check his installation room at the Aerosol Warfare Gallery.

CHECK HIM OUT @ WWW.MYSPACE.COM/GIBBADAMN

Style Profile: HISSON music "Please Sir Can I have Some More..."

These days’ people proclaim music is dead, and the ever-persistent cry “please turn off the radio” is heard on regular basis like “I love you” and “I have to pee.” … Rest assured that the music gods have been listening to the outcry and emerging from the abyss of talent comes none other than HISSON… a music afficionary trained classically, yet implements a neo era of retro flare.

This Texas native is making moves in the music scene, with his infectious syntho- tempo sounds of his up an coming project Cathartic Heartbeats (set to be released 2009)… we can only see how much of an Oliver twist Hisson can make with his evolved sound.

Why we love Hisson, cause he reminds of Saul Williams who had a collision with jamiroqai, while eating maple toffee covered peanuts, sipping on izzie pop soda with a sprig of eucalyptus and and our favorite Marc Jacobs V neck Tee… Yeah something like that!
